MOTORING RECORDS

BONNEVILLE. September 12
Cobb established eight world motor-car records to-day on the completion of a 24-hour run over the Serset Speedway here. He averaged 150162.9 miles an hour. Seven other records were set down during the run. Near the end, Cobb almost met disaster. His heavy Napier-Railton skidded on two wheels. For a second a crash appeared inevitable, but he managed to right the machine and continue.

CHRISTCHURCH, September 13.
The surprise of the New Zealand amateur biliards championship tourney occurred on Saturday, in the last quarter-final, when A. Bowie (Dunedin), very easily beat the present holder, L. Holdsworth (Auckland), who was completely off form. Results were: —Quarter-finals: Bowie 666, beat Holdsworth 191. Semi-finals: A. Albertson (Lyttelton) 750. beat G. Southerwood (Christchurch) 446; S. Moses (Wellington) 750, beat A. Bowie (Dunedin) 651.
