WRESTLING

WOODS v. MEHRINGER. [PER PBESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, June 17. In the best and fastest wrestling match in Christchurch this season, Pete Mehringer (United States) beat Joe Kopach Woods (United States), after a penalty fall against Woods in the sixth round of a professional contest to-night. Mehringer weighed 15.6 and Woods 15.3. Each man had gained one fall previously, Woods in the second round with a yokehold and body press, and Mehringer in the fifth with a body press after flying tackles. The penalty fall was given against Woods for elbow jolts, after he was warned not to continue these. Mehringer looked as though he would not have been able to continue.
