CO-OPERATIVE MINERS
■ UNION FORMED. A meeting was held last evening of the workers of the co-operative mines in the State Mines district, to discuss the formation of a union. Eleven parties were represented. Two members of the newly-formed Co-operative Coal Miners’ Association attended. It was decided to form a union to be called the Runanga Co-operative Employees’ Industrial Union of Workers, to be affiliated to the United Mine Workers of New Zealand. The election of officers resulted: President. Mr. D. Barnes; secretarytreasurer, Mr. A. Houghton; VicePresident, Mr. J. Strang; executive: T. Francis, R. Ewan, B. Hands, T. Pur- 1 nell, W. Pattinson; trustees: J. Tinnion, A. Winstanley.
