ENTERTAINMENTS
OPERA HOUSE. “The Goose and the Gander, a gay comedy drama, featuring Kay Francis, George Brent and Genevieve Tobin, will be screened for the last time at the Opera House to-night. “LOOK UP AND LAUGH.” The name of Grade Fields at the head of a cast is always a guarantee of a real entertainment treat and that is why filmgoers would be well advised not to miss the populai comedienne’s latest merry musical comedy. “Look up and Laugh, which comes to the Opera House Friday and Saturday. “Look up and Laugh 1S “Our Grade” at her inimitable best, leading a great team of comedians spending laughter and happiness fighting a pitched battle with an army of marketeers against a millionaire store keeper threatening to “close the markets”— wallowing in soap suds—running wild in a china shop getting all tangled up with policemen, firemen and fire hoses and finally indulging in a dizzy flight in an aeroplane out of control. Honestly, it s the funniest thing that ever happened —so for the love of laughter “Look up and Laugh.” .REGENT .THEATRE. ■. The comedy, “Stormy " Weather,” showing to-night and to-morrow at the Regent, is the last word in daring situations, naughty but not vulgar. The farcical scenes never become ridiculous. There is the irresistible charm of Yvonne Arnaud with her broken accent and her exquisite drollery. With Tom Walls are the old laughter team; Ralph Lynn, Robertson Hare, and Yvonne, with the addition of Andrews Engleman as a sinister Russian blackmailing his first wife. They make everyone laugh wholeheartedly, give them a shiver of apprehension and send them home wishing it could have continued another hour.
The second attraction enacts its drama around the lives of a book collector and the orphan daughter of his first and only sweetheart. His search for “The Golden Legend,” the first book printed in England, brings them together; and thereafter their careers are closely knitted together to battle all obstacles and win happiness. The collector finds his reward in furthering the romance that has sprung up between the girl and a young student. Anne Shirley demonstrates her histrionic ability in “Chasing Yesterday.” She is definitely entitled to the star billing, which Hollywood has given her in this picture. •‘CALL OF THE WILD.” For almost two months, Clark Gable, Loretta Young, and Jack Oakie braved snowslides, starvation, and death in sub-zero Mount Baker, Washington, filming “Call of the Wild,” which comes to the Regent Theatre for three days, commencing Saturday.
