An enthusiastic meeting of representatives of the town and district, presided over by Mr W. H. Gaisford, decided to form a new racing club, to be known as the Dannevirke Jockey Club, provided 500 members were obtained. It is hoped to revive racing in Dannevirke, in the near future. About 100 members joined at the meeting. Racing at present is being conducted by the Dannevirke Racing Club away from home, under agreements with neighbouring clubs, but this is not very popular with many, hence the move to form a. new club.
