The Hergozin Cecilie’s undamaged wheat, 450 tons, worth roughly £6 per ton, was landed at Salcombe. Buyers are competing for the damaged wheat at about one-third of the price of the undamaged wheat. A German journalist, Hans Wesemann, reputed to be a Nazi agent, was sentenced to three years’ imprisonment, for kidnapping Berthold Jecob, an anti-Nazi journalist, who was released after three months’ imprisonment in Germany.
