Mr. C. A. Legg, who has been actingstationmaster at Greymouth for the past seven months, since the departure of Mr. V. R. J. Stanley, has been appointed permanently to the position, at Grey mouth.

Cable advice has been received by the National Bank, of the appointment to the London Board of Mr Sydney Parkes, general manager ot Lloyd’s Bank. He succeeds Mr Henry F. Freshwater, who has resigned from the directorate.—Press Assn.

Miss A. Blackie, masseuse at the Grey Hospital, who will leave on Saturday, to join the staff of the Auckland Hospital, was tendered a surprise party by members of the nursing staff of the Grey Hospital, and presented with a pair of solid brass candlesticks. She was also presented with a set of book ends and books by her massage patients. Last evening 1 , she was the guest of the Sisters of staff at a bridge party in the Nurses’ Home.
