RUNANGA NOTES
[OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Mrs A. Lumsden, Chirstchurch, is on a holiday visit to Mr and Mrs W. H. Southward. At a well-attended meeting last evening of the Runanga District Children’s Christmas Party, the secretary presented the balance-sheet, showing that the party had been successful. The income for the year was £6B/18/9, made up as follows: — Grey tradespeople £3, Grey hotelkeepers £5/11/6, trading firms £8 2/6, co-op. mining parties (9) £6/9/6, State Mines £33/4/-, Runanga Co-op. Society Runanga Bowling Club £3/11/-, other donations £6 17/6. The expenditure was for: Presents £2l/14/1. fruit £ll/10/-, eatables £B/1/4, ice cream, sweets, etc. £ll/6/1, train fares 14/3, sports .advertising, postage, exchange, etc. £2 18/-, secretary’s honorarium £3/3/-;. total £59/7/2, leaving a credit balance of £9/11/6. It was decided that the balance be placed in the Runanga Co-op. Society, in the names of two trustees. The Committee thanked all for the assistance given. The Chairman (Mr G. English) thanked .thb members of the Committee foi' the splendid services they had given, and said it was a pleasure to work with them.
