Auckland' scored an outright win over Otago, and beat Canterbury and Wellington on the first innings, scoring 16 points. To-day, Auckland, replying to Wellington’s first innings total of 152. made 235. A declaration in an effort to force an outright win was not made, the visiting captain preferring to let his batsmen get runs quickly or get out. Wellington batted all the afternoon for 308 for five wickets, a feature being a great stand of 201 for the third wicket by Lamason, who palyed a brilliant innings of 127, and McLeod, who shaped very solidly for 94. POVERTY BAY v. M.C.C. VISITORS HOLD ADVANTAGE. GISBORNE, February 11. M.C.C. continued to score briskly after lunch, Mitchell-Innes scoring especially freely, and eventually being the fourth out for 43, with the total at 139. Human followed, and immediately 'attacked the bowling, but lost Parks, who played very solidly for 45, at 141. Human ■ then hit out at everything, and the score mounted rapidly to 206, when the closure was applied. Blathwayt, . a fast medium trundler, with a deceptive swerve, did the best of the local bowlers. With just under two hours to play, Poverty Bay opened, Boon scoring five off the first three balls,. but eventually going for 12. Four wickets were down for 26, but a fine fighting innings by Reeves, who played chanceless cricket, took the total to 105, all being out just before stumps were drawn. Reeves hit three fours in his 51, and frequently found gaps to the off for slashing drives. Baxter impressed most of the visiting bowlers, swerving the ball remarkably, and also effecting a break-back. Scores:

A moderate westerly breeze was the only factor which prevented conditions being perfect for the resumption of the match between Poverty Bay and Marylebone. This morning, instead of forcing a follow-on, the M.C.C. sportingly elected to bat again, but changed the batting order to enable the tail-enders to have a strike, and the result was that for a start wickets fell quickly. The captain, Tolmes, was the first to go, and after Lyttelton and Read made a short stand, four wickets fell for the addition of fifty runs. Human and Hardstaff, however stopped the rot, the paii’ attacking the Poverty Bay slow bowlers, to bring the century up after 70 minutes. The score at lunch was five.
