GRAIN AND PRODUCE. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] CHRISTCHURCH, December 13. The grain and produce markets remain quiet, with only interest still in fowl wheat. It is now generally believed that there will be no importations of fowl wheat from Australia to the Soqth Island, as there are sufficient stocks to carry on with till the Marlborough crop comes in, probably tho second week in January. Supplies here are firmly held', and though the price remains at 4/10 f.0.b., it is not unlikely that there will be some move next week. The Canterbury crops are looking exceptionally well, and unless there is a bad break in the weather between now and harvest, the yield should be somewhere near a record. Australian supplies are filling: the need of the Auckland market for oats and trade here is very quiet. Prices are inclined to ease. It is expected that some of the crop will be ready between Christmas and the New Year. Chaff, like oats, is inclined to ease, mainly owing to the great abundance of feed at present in the country. The potato crop is looking'particularly well, though some growers .have, had to sow their areas again. There is little local interest’in thfe new crop. North Islahd inquiries havez, been. received' at the equivalent of £3/5/-on trucks, but neither merchants nor farmers are disposed to trade at that price. GOLD AND EXCHANGE.
