WAIHI, September 30.

Having failed to reach a new industrial agreement with the Martha Gold Mining Company, Waihi, Limited, tho employees, at a mass meeting decided to serve the company with seven days’ notice to cease work on Monday, October 7. at midnight. A resolution was also passed, expressing appreciation and confidence in tho efforts of the Union delegates to bring about a settlement. ’rhe' decision has caused general uneasiness in the town, but it is anticiI ated there will be a further conference between tho disputants within the ii'xt few days, and that a settlement will be arrived at. The number of men involved will be about 650, <>f whom approximately 190 are employed in and about the Waihi mine, and the balance at the company's battery at Waikino.
