AUCKLAND, September 30. Publication of the details of the evidence at the Police Court this morning, in a series of charges against Laul Edward Din, or Dean, 23, and Madeline Elizabeth Din, or Dean, 44, was to a great extent suppressed, when on the application of the police, the presiding Justices ordered nonpublication of the names of bank depositors, their addresses, occupation, details of accounts, and also details of the methods of working the Post Office ‘Savings Bank. The male accused was charged that by false pretences he obtained on April 1, 1935, £1800; on July 12, £900; and on August 1, £lB5O from the Auckland branch of the Post Office Savings Bank. He was also indicted’ on three charges of forgery. The female, accused w4s joined with the other accused in respect to the charge of obtaining £lB5O. Thre depositors denied signing the signatures on withdrawal slips produced.

Two handwriting experts expressed the opin[on that the slips were filled in and signed by the male accused. James Brown, assistant supervisor, said that the male accused was employed at the bank from January to July 15 last, when he resigned. (Proceeding.)
