RUNANGA TRAIN SERVICE
ALTERATIONS SUGGESTED. The time-table in connection with the passenger trains between Greymouth and Runanga was the subject of a conference held yesterday in the Runanga Borough Council offices, and a satisfactory arrangement, subject to approval from Head Office, was made. There were present Messrs G. English and W. Pendlebury (State Miners’ Union), 1. A. James (State Mines Superintendent), R. McTaggart (Mayor of Runanga), E. S. Brittenden (District Traffic Manager of Railways,) and V. R. J. Stanley (Stationmaster, Greymouth). The conference considered both the miners’ passenger train to and from Rewanui, and the public passenger trains between Runapga and Greymouth, and after a detailed discussion, the conference, in cider to meet the convenience of all concerned, decided that the following timetable should be approved:— The miners’ passenger train shall leave Greymouth in the morning at the same time as previously. The miners’ return passenger train shall leave Rewanui in the afternoon at 4.35 o’clock (instead of 4.40 as previously), arriving at Dunollie, with a straight run through, twelve minutesearlier than heretofore; then stopping at Rim an ga, and reaching-Greymouth at eleven minutes past live o’clock (instead of twenty-seven minutes past five as heretofore), or sixteen minutes earlier titan previously. The passenger train from Greymouth to Runanga usually leaving at 4.53 p.rii. will be delayed until 5.15 p.m., leaving after the arrival of the miners’ passenger train. On Friday (instead of Saturday) evenings in future a train will leave Rewanui at 6.25 o’clock, arriving at Greymouth at 7.8 o’clock. On Friday nights a return train from Greymouth to Rewanui will leave Greymouth' at 9.15 o’clock. On Saturday evenings a train will leave Greymouth for Rewanui at 6.20 o’clock. 4 The matter of the issuing of workmen’s tickets was discussed, and an arrangement was arrived at, that provides when a workman is compelled to travel to Rewanui without a ticket through no fault of his own, it will be necessary for the workman concerned' to approach the Mine Manager, and, if authorised by that official, arrangement will be made to have a ticket issued at Rewanui for the workman.
