WOMEN’S GOLF FINAL
WANDA MORGAN WINS
CADDIES CAUSE DISTURBANCE [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT. 1 LONDON, May 30. In the women’s golf championships final, Wanda Morgan defeated Pam Barton, 3/2. Barracking by caddies marred the final. Miss Barton changed the caddie she had so far employed and offered to pay him the customary day’s fee, but twenty caddies demanding 40/and an apology followed the players, criticising Miss Barton’s caddie and applauding Miss Morgan’s success. They demonstrated at the clubhouse at the end of the morning round. The dispute was then settled by the payment of 6/-. No apology was made. The match was the best final for years. Miss Barton, driving strongly, led twice in the first nine holes, but Miss Morgan finished the morning round two up. She was three up at the twenty-third. Miss Barton gallantly rallied and twice was within a hole of her opponent, but she putted poorly, when she had a chance of squaring.
TO TOUR AUSTRALIA. - Pam Barton, Wade, Mesdames Greenlees, and Walker have accepted invitations to tour Australia. Wanda Morgan and J. Anderson have been invited, but are undecided. The reserves will be Mrs Peel and Misses Sherlock and Jeffries.
