His Honor commented on the large number of sexual cases, which showed an increase for the district. BOWLING CLUB FINED. DUNEDIN, May 25., In the Police Court, the Anderson’s Bay'Bowling Club was fined £3 with costs for using 30,000 gallons, of water on its green between March 4 and March 29, during the period when water restrictions had been imposed by the City Council on account of the drought. ,
CAR CONVERSION. PALMERSTON N., May 25. An epidemic of car conversions has disturbed motorists of late. Early this morning, two boys were caught at Opiki after being detained by visitors to a social gathering, who allegedly found the boys attempting to start a car which had been removed from a street in the city last evening. The boys appeared in the Children’s Court to-day, charged with converting a car and were remanded. The police stated that other charges were pending. It is understood that the arrests will lead to the circumstances of other car conversions being cleared up.
TRAMPING CLUBS. WELLINGTON, May 25. The Federated Tramping Clubs of New Zealand, at the annual meeting, decided to approach the Government with a request that nationally owned mountain areas should be controlled in such a manner as to give the general public free access to them. _ A resolution was passed to the effect that the Federation considered the whole purpose of the Tourist Advisory Board had been disregarded in the appointment of the present Board, and that it should be reconstituted to provide for adequate representation ot public interests, such as sporting and mountaineering authorities ,in addition to tourist agencies.
