SYDNEY, May 24

It was announced to-day that the King’s Jubilee Shilling Fund for hospitals in New South Wales now aggregates £35,000, including a £lO,OOO cheque from the New South Wales Government. Victoria’s Jubilee Fund amounted to £33,336, including a Victorian Government grant of £5,000.

The Commonwealth Government’s maternal and infant welfare fund has reached £14,705.

WELLINGTON, May 24.

In answer to an enquiry to-day regarding contributions by local bodies to the King’s Jubilee Gift Fund in aid of cancer research in New Zealand, the acting-Prime Minister, Mr Ransom, made it plain that any necessary legislation will be passed validating all gifts to this fund made by local bodies.
