BIGAMY ADMITTED
MAN’S FALSE DECLARATION.
[per press association.] PALMERSTON NORTH, March 22. William Frank Lionel George Brown, 37, salesman, admitted bigamy, at the Magistrate’s Court today. He also pleaded guilty to making a false declaration for the purpose of securing a registrar’s certificate. His wife gave evidence that they were married at Onehunga in September, 1920. They had three children. Accused deserted her in 1926, and she secured a guardianship and maintenance order. Her first knowledge of the second marriage was when the police informed her.
The other lady in the case said that she met accused in June last at New Plymouth, when he said his name was Gray, and that he had been divorced for many years. She married him'at Palmerston North in November, 1934, A clerk at the registrar’s office stated that Brown gave the name of Gray, declaring himself a bachelor. Accused was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence.
