TOY CAVES

LICENSE FEES REQUIRED. [FEB PBEBB ASSOCIATION.) CHRISTCHURCH, February 25. In future, those business firms in Christchurch which provide entertainment for their customers, such as toy caves at Christmas, will have to pay fees to the City Council, and license their premises as places of entertainment. This decision was made at the meeting of the City Council tonight, which had before it an opinion from counsel to the Municipal Association.

In the case stated for an opinion, it was explained that a charge was made for admission to a cave, but every child was given a toy equal in value to the admission charge.

Counsel replied that he was of opinion that a magic cave was a place of amusement, and came within the provisions of the Statute.

Tho By-laws Committee, in making its report to the Council, stated that it had decided to insist on the payment of license fees in future, and would notify those firms which usually provide this form of amusement. The Council adopted the report.
