VISITORS AT WELLINGTON.

WELLINGTON, February 25.

The British runners, G. Rampling, J. V prfwell, and R. M. Craske, and the Finnish fieldsmen, Matti Sippala and Veikko Perasalo, appeared in several invitation events at an athletic meeting at the Basin Reserve this evening, which had been postponed from Saturday on account of bad weather and was held under almost winter conditions. There was a cold southerly wind, preventing record performances. The English runners had decisive wins in the invitation races, but in the 220yds, which was the closest contest of the meeting, Rampling fell at the finish and injured his knee, which prevented him from entering for the 440yds event. It is not known yet whether he will be fit enough to run at Christchurch on Wednesday. Results were as follow:—
