GENEVA, February 8.

Further avalanches are reported from all parts of the Alps. Entire forests have been wiped out, bridges destroyed, and villages isolated. The famous hospice of Saint Bernard is completely snowed in. The monks’ only exit is through the top floor windows.

Bombs have been used to break up huge accumulations’ of snow on the heights above the Bernina railway.

ANOTHER FIVE KILLED

LONDON, February 8

An avalanche at Gargullen overwhelmed two houses, killing five, in eluding a mother and two children.
