The Attorney-General, - Mr. Cummings, said to-day that the Government “is ready for any emergency” in the event of the ruling of the Supreme Court on the gold clause being against the Administration, but he declined to give any details of the steps that are contemplated. Reports that President Roosevelt had sent a secret memorandum to Congress for use in case of an adverse decision were denied by all sources. The Supreme Court’s decision is expected on Saturday.
