Saturday morning was beautifully fine, but a violent storm spoiled most of the sporting fixtures in the afternoon, when 134 points of rain fell in half an hour. SHOTS AT BATSMAN. SYDNEY, December 30. During a cricket match, in which the Bathurst Gaol officers were participating. shots, fired by a hidden marksman, whistled round the players' heads. The Gaol officers were batting. The marksman, apparently, fired at the batsman. He was not traced. SYDNEY, December 31. It is now established that the bullets which landed on the Bathurst cricket field, were fired by youths, who were practising at a jam tin in a nearby backyard.
