PERTH STOCK EXCHANGE. PERTH, December 30. As the outcome of record business during the year, the membership of the Perth Stock Exchange has increased by nearly one-third, and for the first time in its history, two daily calls have been instituted. MOSSY CREEK DREDGE Following a. light fall of rain, the Mossy Creek dredge worked on Friday afternoon, and all Saturday, the whole machine working satisfactorily. It was decided not to bring the dredge out of the pond, until there is more rain. She remains in a comfortable position, in sufficient water.
NEW MATAKI DREDGE. A now dredge, to cost. £29,000, is to bo commenced early in the Now Year, at Mataki Junction, near Murchison, bj' Mr. AV. G. McKay, a. Greymouth contractor, for an Australian company. The plant will bo driven by independent motors, the power being supplied' by a Diesel electric set of 350 h.p. The bucket line will be of Hadfield’s manganese steel, six cubic feet buckets, close-connected, and the pontoons of Australian hardwood. There is every possibility that all the machinery will be shipped through Greymouth. The dredge will be built just below the Mataki River bridge, close to the present Mataki dredge, which is working above the bridge.
