GIRL ATTACKED

STRUCK BY UNKNOWN MAN. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND, December 28. A sudden and unprovoked assault was committed on a young woman, who was walking in Mountain Road, near Auckland Grammar School, late on Thursday night. The victim was Miss Rona Willacy, aged 18 years, who is employed at the home of Professor A. P. W. Thomas. She was struck on the face and body by an unknown man, and knocked down. The assailant fled when Miss Willacy screamed, and so far he has not been traced by detectives. Miss Willacy was near the school caretaker’s house when she noticed a man approaching, and when he came near, he stopped and asked her the time. Before Miss Willacy could reply, the man struck her twice, once on the face, and once on the body, knocking her down. She screamed for help, and the man disappeared. Miss Willacy sought protection in ?. house nearby, and later she continued to the home of her employer. She was little worse for her experience, although suffering from a small wound inside the mouth, caused by being struck heavily in the face.
