Manhire, of Christchurch, fell from the Auckland express last night, and later was found dead by a goods train driver. His papers were those of an insur- . ance inspector for the National MuI tual Life. It is believed he was on his way to Auckland, he having a first-class ticket to there. s PUBLIC BODY SERVICE. CHRISTCHURCH, December 19. Alfred Manhire, 67. killed by a fall from a railway train at Otaki, was the District Inspector for the National Mutual Life Insurance, and was I prominent, in local bodies. He was a [ foundation member of the Waimakariri River Trust, a past-Mayor of Spreydon and an ex-member of the Christchurch City Council. He was the prospective Independent candidate for Christchurch North, at the next election.
