[per press association.] SALESMAN CONVICTED. CHRISTCHURCH, December 19. Cyril Arthur Ibbotson, 39, salesman, of Wellington, was charged before Magistrate Young, with failing to account for £lO, to the Shield Manufacturing Coy., Ltd. He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence, if called, and to refund £lO, which had been collected at Hokitika. Counsel said that the money had now been paid over, as had been intended all along. YOUTHS’ OFFENCES. WELLINGTON. December 19. John Thomas Backhouse, 20, and John Veitch Crichton, also known as Jack Euman, 17, were charged with breaking, entering and theft. They pleaded guilty, and were committed for sentence. Crichton was also committed for sentence on a charge of indecently assaulting a six-year-old girl. Application for bail for Backhouse was refused. There were also five charges of car conversion against the pair. These will be dealt with by a Magistrate, after the accused have been before a Supreme Court Judge.
