BRITAIN AND IRELAND
NEW TREATY ALLEGED [by CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON. December 15. The Diplomatic Correspondent of “Reynold’s Newspaper,” says:—“A new treaty between Britain and Ireland is on the point of signature. Agreement has already been reached on the following points:—(l) Britain is to forego the right to collect Irish land annuities. (2) Britain is to abol ish all of her duties on Irish goods entering England. (3) Ireland is to grant to the British Air Ministry facilities to establish coastal air bases and also other air bases in Ireland. The preliminary negotiations have already been carried out with Mr. J. H. Thomas by Aiderman Byrne (Lord Mayor of Dublin) who helped to pave the way for the 1921 Anglo-Irish treaty.” The Correspondent goes on to suggest that Ulster is now expected to lessen her objections to the plan of having a United Ireland, on the ground that this agreement is being dictated by the necessity of ensuring that Ireland shall, in the event of war, not become a base for hostile aircraft or submarines. - CITIZENSHIP BILL DUBLIN, December 15. The Irish Citizenship Bill has been passed through the committee stage and now includes the Government’s ’ amendments.
