FATAL DRINK. [PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] WANGANUI, December 16. Mistaking a. bottle of sheep dip for home-brewed beer, Albert Edward McGrail, single, 36, of Okoia, swallowed a large mouthful on Saturday; and died later in the Wanganui Hospital. /He was one of a shearing gang on lan Higgie’s property. He went to the engine room, where he picked up a bottle which he thought contained beer. FOUND HANGED. BLENHEIM, December 17. Harry Watson Liddell, aged about 40, telegraph linesman, missing since Saturday night, was found hanging in a small motor shed at the rear of the Post Office, Liddell was formerly stationed at Hamilton, and was transferred to Blenheim about three months ago for special work. His mother resides in Ferguson Street, Palmerston North. OLD MAN’S ORDEAL. ASHBURTON, December. 16. After being badly burnt in a. fire at his hut; at Westerfield, Thomas Pickering, 76, single, lay in the shed conscious but helpless until discovered yesterday afternoon. He stated that he woke on Thursday night to find the hut .afire, and his clothes burning. He rushed to a nearby waterrace. He was burnt badly on the arms and head. He was admitted to the hospital, and his condition is satisfactory.
