Miss E. Moore will leave Greymouth to-morrow, for Melbourne, on holiday.

Mrs ,T. Erskine, will leave to-mor-tow, on a holiday visit, to Wellington.

Mr Rae Bayley, of Fernside, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. 11. Gilmer. Raupo.

Miss Isabel Neilson of the nursingstaff of the Christchurch Public Hospital, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. J. Neilson, Cobden.

Mr., and Mrs. J. Darling, of .Balclutha, arrived at Greymouth on Saturday ,and are the guests of Mrs Shrimpton, High Street.

The engagement is announced of Hazel, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs F. B. Lawn, Winnie Street, to Reginald, only son of Mr and Mrs A. R. Frost, Nelson.

The death has occurred of the Rev. J. G. S. Bartlett, who was organising secretary to the Nelson Cathedral Erection Board, and formerly-of Wellington, Wadestown, Featherston and Oamaru (states a Nelson telegram).

The death is announced from Auckland of Mr. Dynes Fulton, Chairman of Directors of the New Zealand Dairy Company, and Deputy-Chairman of the Dairy Produce Board. He was 59 years of age. He recently visited England. He had ailing some tim’e.

The funeral of the late Mr. F. D. Thomson, Permanent Head of the Prime Minister’s • Department, took place on Saturday morning, at Wellington. At St. Paul’s Pro-Cathedral there was a very large attendance. The Governor-General, as President of the Executive Council, was represented by Lieut. Ellworthy. The pall bearers were Messrs C. A. Jeffery, T. R. Aickin, F. M. Sherwood, J. A. Mitchell. A. W. Mulligan, and C. A. Berendsen Ministers present were Messrs Forbes, Ransom, Young, Cobbe, Hamilton, Macmillan and Smith. Also present were Sir W. Carncross (Speaker of the Legislative Council), Sir C. Statham (Speaker of the House of Representatives), a large number of members of both Houses, also heads of Government Departments, and prominent commercial and professional men. The services was conducted by Canon James, assisted by ReV. Ashley Jones. —Press Assn.
