. OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. Ronald Colman and Kay Francis are starred in “Cynara” to be shown this evening. “A Farewell to Arms” will be the feature for Sunday night. Proceeds in aid of the Mayor’s Unemployment Fund. BLACKBALL—TO-NIGHT. “Paddy The Next Best Thing” will be shown to-night and “Cynara” on Sunday night. WALLSEND—SUNDAY. “AVoman In His Life” will be shown Sunday night. AVAIUTA—TO-NIGHT. “One Alan’s Journey” will be shown to-night and “Cat and the Fiddle” on Sunday night. RUNANGA—TO-NIGHT. “Women In His Life” will be showm to-night and “Obey the Law” and “Parole Girl” Sunday night. RECITAL OF CHRISTMAS MUSIC. On Sunday night, St. John’s Presbyterian Church Choir will give a recital of Christmas music. The service will commence at 7 p.m. and the recital at 8.15. These recitals in former years reached a very high standard, and this year will be no exception. The programme includes some of the finest parts of the “Messiah,” Handel’s immortal classic. The full choir will render the chorus, “And the Glory of the Lord” and “The Hallelujah Choru.s.” Mrs Rosewall will sing “Come unto Him”; Airs W. H. Coltman the recitative and air, “Then 1 shall the ages of the blind” and “Ho shall feed His Hock.” Miss N. Tennent the air, “He was despised,” and Air 11. E. Anderson the recitative and air “Comfort ye my people” and “Every Valley shall be exalted.’’
Tho full choir will also . render Caleb Simper’s beautiful cantata, "The Nativity of Christ.’’ The cantata tells in solo, carol and chorus, the Christmas story, the Annunciation to Mary, the coming of the wise men with their precious gifts, the message to the shepherds, “Good tidings of great joy.” The whole cantata brings out in a beautiful way the inner meaning of the Christmas message. The soioists in the cantata include Mesdames Fell and Rosewall, Miss J. McLauchlan, and Messrs H. E. Anderson, A. Aims, J. Noonan, E. Rosewall, G. Stewart, A. Stent and T. Tennent. The full choir will be under tho baton of Madame Bella Russell, and Mr R. B. Tennent will be at the organ. Special organ music will be rendered during the evening.
NATIVITY PLAY.
The pupils of the Blaketown Sunday School will present a Nativity Play at the Blaketown Citizens’ Hall, to-morrow at 3 p.m.
