RUNANGA NOTES
[OUE OWN COEBESPONDENT.] Mr. I. Powell is making satisfactory progress in the Grey River Hospital. Mrs F. Oakley and Mrs E. Beardsmore, who have recently undergone operations in the Grey River Hospital, are making satisfactory progress. Mr. and Mrs J. Forrest have returned from a holiday visit to Christchurch. A kitchen evening was tendered to Miss M. Clark in the Presbyterian Hall on Monday, in view of her approaching marriage to Mr. L. Hall. Mr. J. Bruerton presided, and spoke of the many good qualities of the guest, and extended to her the best wishes of the Church. A pleasant evening was spent in games and dancing. Items were rendered by Mesdames Shackley, Wright and Misses M. Tyson and E. Finch. Many useful presents were received, and Mr. L. Hall thanked the givers for the kind gifts and good wishes. Among those present were: — Mesdames J. Armstrong, J. Rae, Scott, Wright (2), Quate, Simpson, Page (2), Kitchen, Shackley, J. Bell, Tyson, W. Robertson, Cullen, Bruerton, Muncaster, Jenkinson* Smitheram, Misses Rae (2), Tyson (2), E. Finch, J. Bell, Simpson, M. Clark, M. Smitheram; Messrs. N. Speakman, J. Rae, N. Finch and J. Clark.
The annual general meeting of the Runanga Caledonian Society was held in the Gymnasium, last evening, and there Was a large attendance. The balance-sheet was received as highly satisfactory. The election of officers resulted:—President, Mr. E. Graham; vice-president, Mr. W. Page; secretary, Mr. R. Airns; M.C., Mr. W. Richmond; auditors, Messrs. W. Caldwell 'and W. Richmond; ladies’ committee, Mesdames J. IsherWood, W. Page, J. Bell, E. Graham, F. White, and S. Maskill.
