GOLF

GIRL PRODIGY. [BY CABLE —PBES9 ASSN. —COPYBIGHT.] LONDON, September 13. A little thirteen-year-old Scot, Nancy, Jupp, astonished the golfingworld by reaching the final of tho girls’ championship at Stoke Poges in her first attempt, beating en route competitors four and five years older, x whom she consistently outdrove. One of her drives was 280 yards. She is a beautiful player, with a model swing, and hits with deadly accuracy. She began playing when six. How she achieved such perfection is a mystery as she had only a few lessons, and had not even got a handicap. She plays in .the final against an eighteen-year-old girl, Joan Mountford, an experienced player from North Foreland Club, the nursery of famous players, including Miss Diana Fishwick. LONDON, September 14. Nancy Jupp defeated Joan Mountford in the girls’ golf championship by 3 up and 1. Jupp is the smallest and youngest girl ever to win- the championship.
