RUSSIA AND LEAGUE. LONDON, September 4. “The Times’s” Geneva correspondent states: It is understood that the method of the Soviet’s admission to the League is to be by an invitation issued by a group of members of the League Council. It is generally believed that the inviting Powers have assured the two-thirds majority necessary to ensure the Soviet’s admission. WHEAT ESTIMATES ROME, September 4. The International Agricultural Institute’s preliminary report estimates the wheat crops in the Northern Hemisphere, exclusive of Russia and China, at from 78 to 79 million metric tons, 7 to 8 millions lower than in 1933. The North American estimate is one and a-half million tons lower.
