MELBOURNE CENTENARY
ITALIAN CRUISER’S VISIT. [BY CABLE—PBESS ASSN. —OOPYBIGHT.] LONDON, September 4. The Italian cruiser, Armando Diaz, the most modern, and one of the most powerful units in the Italian Navy, left Spezia for Australia. The cruiser leaves Melbourne on November 12, and arrives at Wellington on November 16, then sails on November 22 for Brisbane. The Australian Press Association understands that other foreign navies are likely to be represented at the Centenary. TRANSPORT OF U.S.A. PLANES. LONDON, September 4. The “Evening News” says: The National Aeronautical Association has requested the United States Naval Department to transport seventeen American aeroplanes competing in the Centenary Air Race, in a naval aircraft carrier. The authorities are favourable to the suggestion.
