LEAGUE FOOTBALL

MANAGEMENT committee meet. Present at last evening meeting of the Management Committee ol the West Coast Rugby League Centie, were: Messrs J. Stokes, B. a Anisy: W. Barlow, J. Griiten, J. Anisv, B. Rathbun, and R. J. Harrington (secretary). Mr Stokes was voted to the chair. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs A. 11. MeKane, and L. Hunter. The Hornby Club advised that it would not be convenient for their senior team to play Pirate for the Thacker Shield, at Greymouth, on September 8, and suggested September «2 as a suitable date. The Club also stated that it had never received any financial benefit from the Shield when held by it, and asked the position in legald to gate division. It was decided to reply that the rules governing the matches for the Shield provided for the Centre receiving 121 per cent, of the gate, and the two competing clubs receiving an equal division of the remaining percentage. An invitation from the Canterbury League for a match with West Coast (including Inangahua), at Christchurch on September 29, was accepted.

Permission was granted the Inangahua Sub-Centre to play Canterbury, on a date yet to be arranged. On the motion of Mr A. Anisy, it was decided that a letter of appreciation be forwarded to Mr R. Taylor, for his services to the League, as secretary of the Junior Advisory Board. Mr Taylor left yesterday for Nelson, where he has secured a position. It was decided to advise the Inangahua Sub-Centre that its clubs had the right to challenge for the Challenge Shield, now held by Marist seniors.

A vote of thanks was passed to Mr A. Behan, for conveying an injured Runanga player, from Rapahoe last Sunday, to the doctor at Runanga. Mr A. C. Hall, manager of the South Island team, reported on the tour, and the match with the North Island thirteen, at Auckland last Saturday. A vote of appreciation for Mr Hall’s services was placed on the minutes. It was-decided to write the New Zealand Council regarding the possibility of the Western Suburbs (Sydney) team, extending its tour to Christchurch, and playing a combined Can-terbury-West Coast team.

Smith); Marist v. Ngahere, at Wingham Park, at 2 p.m. (J. O’Neill); Pirates a bye. Fourth grade.—Marist v. Brunner, at Brunner, at 1.30 p.m. (D. Bernard); Pirates a bye.
