KUMARA NOTES

[OUB OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Mr. Charles Cox, of Greenstone, met with an accident on Sunday evening. He had just had his tea at AVoods’ Hotel, and was proceeding out by the back door, when he fell his head coming into contact with a sharp piece of wood, catising a gash in the head. He was removed to the AVestland Hospital. A lad named Case had the calf of his leg lacerated yesterday, through being struck by the pedal of a bicycle, ridden by his brother. The injury necessitated the insertion of nine stitches. Mr. E. Martyn, who received serious injuries recently, while at work in a sawmill, is said to be progressing satisfactorily at the AVestland Hospital. Mr. and Mrs R. Ford, who have been spending a holiday at Lake Brunner, returned to Hokitika yesterday. The work of putting in a new concrete culvert on the Beach Road, is now being proceeded with, and as the pipes are considerably larger than those used previously, should be able to cope with any emergency. Mr. John Stewart, who has been seriously indisposed, is on the way to recovery.

Mi Robert Harrison, formerly on the teaching staff of the local school, but now headmaster of the Richmond School, Canterbury, paid a visit to Kumara on Friday.
