(our own correspondent.] REEFTON, September 4. The schools in the Inangahua district. resumed this morning, after the term holidays. At Reef ton. on Sunday, at Robertson’s Paddock, AVaratah Rugby team met Star, and won by nine to three. Messrs E. Clarke, R. D. AV. and J. Moyle who have been spending the term holidays in Canterbury and Otago have returned to Reefton. Mr. P. J. O’Regan presided at the annual meeting of the Golden Coast Co-operative Dairy Company, Ltd. The annual statement of accounts showed that the balance to profit and loss account was £4,408/4/2, and the total quantity of butter manufactured was 428 tons 10 cwt 1 quarter. The directors recommended that a bonus of Id per lb. be paid to all suppliers during lhe past season and that 5 per cent, be paid io shareholders on their capital. 'The payment to suppliers for the year total 7.747 d per lb. Mr. T. R. AVatson was elected director for the Grey Valley ward, defeating Mr. J. R. .Tones. The rainfall recorded at the Reefton School of Mines for the month of August was 10.07 inches, with rain on 22 days, and a maximum fall of 2.35 inches at the 3rd inst. Spring is well on the way at Reefton, and although the early mornings and nights are cold, a number of gardens are gay with daffodils. The blooms this year are much earlier than the previous year. At present the Suburban Cemetery is a fine sight with its showing of spring flowers and in a number of plots some fine blooms are out. These include a display of crocus. Some of the plots are in need of a clean-up.
