WATERSIDE DISPUTE
TROUBLE AT WELLINGTON. [PJCB PBBSS ASSOCIATION.] WELLINGTON, September 3. Trouble was to-day experienced with the waterside workers discharging newsprint from the “Paracombe." the men refusing to handle more than one reel of newsprint in each sling, Instead of the customary two reels. • Trouble was also experienced in the handling of cargo from the Makura. It is understood that only one gang were required to work overtime, but they refused to do so unless the other gangs working during the day were given overtime also. COASTAL SHIP DELAYED. WELLINGTON, September 3. A few minutes before the coastal steamer Holmdale was due to leave tonight for Dunedin, her crew intimated that they would not take her to sea, as thejs, wanted to attend a stop-work meeting of the Seamen’s and Firemen’s Union to-morrow morning.
