ARAPUNI HEADRACE
LOCATION OF LEAK. [PKR PRESS ASSOCIATION.] AUCKLAND. September 4. The precise location of the small leak in the bank of the headrace at Arapuni hydro-electric works, which has been known to the public Works Department since last May, was located yesterday, and remedial measures have been put in hand. Chief Electrical Engineer Kissell. said to-day, the trouble was minor, and would in no way interfere with the electricity supply. The maximum volume of the leak has been fixed at 1(10 gallons per minute. As part of the repair work, the volume of the water in the headrace has been lowered to the spillway level. The water is being turned into a diversion tunnel so that the diver in fixing tarpaulins could work in safety. The whole situation is regarded as being little more than routine work.
