DUKE OF GLOUCESTER
DEPARTURE ARRANGEMENTS [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] RUGBY, September 3. The departure of the Duke of Gloucester, to-morrow, -will be private and informal, but representatives of the Dominions office including Mr. Thomas and Mr. Stanlev Bruce will attend the aerodrome, where the Duke takes off on the first stage of the journey to Marseilles, -where he will join the Sussex on the way to Australia. The Duke will call at Colombo where he will hand over the throne of the Kings of Kandy, which has been kept at Windsor Castle since 1815, when in response to appeals from Ceylon, the King of Kandy was dethroned. MEMBERS OF STAFF. General Howard-Vyse, who will be Chief of Staff with the Duke of Gloucester, was Commandant of the Weedon School of Equitation when the Duke was training there. The General obtained leave so that he could accept the invitation of His Royal Highness to accompany him on this tour. Three members of the suite are officers of the Hussars, the Duke’s regiment. Captain Arthur Curtis, his private secretary, knows Australasia well, for he was private secretary to Lord Stonehaven when lie was Gover-nor-General of Australia and to Lord Jellicoe when he was Governor-Gen-eral of New Zealand.
