Mrs. J. Mason. Blaketown, left today. on a. visit to Christchurch. Mr. J. Martini left, this morning, on a visit to Christchurch. Mr. M. Clarke was a passenger by this morning’s express to Christchurch. Mr. W. Cockcroft left, this morning, on return to Christchurch. Miss D. Blair returned yesterday, from a visit to Christchurch. Miss Margaret McDonnell left this morning, on a holiday visit to Christchurch. Mr. H. Gilligan, who has been Visiting relations'in Runanga, returned this morning, to Christchurch. Dr W. A. Bird, who has been out of town for- two or three days, will return, this afternoon. Mr Justice Johnston, Mrs Johnston, and Mr W. W. King (Judge’s associate) will arrive from Christchurch by this afternoon’s express. Misses. Z. Munson, and E. Blackmore left to-day, for Christchurch, to resume their studies at the Sacred Heart Convent. Major Oldfield, a representative of the Ceylon Government, is visiting the West Coast. He will arrive in Greymouth, this evening, from Hokitika. Miss A. G. Keddie, retired matron, late of Waikato Hospital, who is touring the Coast, will arrive from the Glaciers to-day, and will proceed to Westport, to-morrow. The Bishop of Christchurch (Dr Campbell West-Watson) will repre- : sent the New Zealand Bench of Bishops at the All-Australian Assem- 1 biy of the Church of England, at Melbourne from November S to Novem- ( her 16. j Mr John McTaggart, who was taken i suddenly ill at his home in Runanga, this ■ morning, was admitted to the t Grey Hospital after attention by Dr r J. Mr H. W. S. Pearce, the Assistant Chief Inspectin' of the Public Trust Office, has been appointed to be Chief Inspector. Since the appointment in August, 1932. of Mr A. R. Coad to the position of District Public Trustee at Wellington, Mr Pearce has acted as Chief Inspector.—Press Assn. The death is announced from London of Mr F. C. Goodenough, a* leading banker, who was born in Calcutta in • 1866, and educated at Chartehouse and Zurich University. JHe was Chairman of Barclay’s Bank, Ltd., and its affiliates, a director of the Alliance Assurance Company, and other large companies, and a member of the Council of Foreign Bondholders. The date and other details of the marriage of Prince George and Princess Marina have not been fixed but it is understood the Archbishops of Canterbury and York will take part in the service at Westminster Abbey, where it is expected the wedding will be solemnised. High dignitaries of the Greek Orthodox Church of which the Princess is a member, may also attend. —Official Wireless. The death occurred at Christchurch last evening of Mr J. J. Dougall, one of the oldest and best known members of the legal profession in the city. Some years ago, he was prominent in civic affairs, was Mayor of Christchurch in 1912, a member of Lyttelton Harbour Board for six years, and a member of Canterbury College Council. His chief pre-occupation for many years had been the Navy League, he having been President of the Christchurch Branch for the last 12 years. —Press Assn.
