In the doubles tennis final at Rye, Misses Stammers and James defeated Misses Dorothy Andrews, of Connecticut, and Elizabeth Ryan 6-3, 6-3. In the men’s semi-finals, Lott defeated Shields 4-6, 6-3, 8-6; and Parker Make 6-1, 6-4. U.S.A. CHAMPIONSHIPS. FOREST HILLS, September 1. Perry defeated Carl H. Schwelhardt (Forest Hills) 6-0, 6-1, 6-3, in the first round of the United States singles championships. Lott defeated Marco Hecht (University of Pennsylvania) 6-2, 10-S, 5-7, 4-6, 6-3. Allison defeated Gibert Hunt 6-3, 7-5, 6-4. Stoeffen defeated James Farrin jnr.. 6-1, 6-1, 6-1. Sutter defeated Elmer Griffin 6-1, 6-2, 6-4. Most of the stars got byes. DAVIS CUP. WARSAW, September 1. In the Davis Cup Poland has eliminated Greece by three to nil.
