ANNUAL CONFERENCE. [BY CABLE—PBEHS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, August 2. Mr Citrine, secretary of the Trade Union Congress announced 100,000 decrease in the affiliated membership. Five hundred and seventy delegates represent 3,294,551 members of the Congress, which will open to-morrow. Heavy rain marred the inaugural demonstration at the Maumbury Ring Roman Amphitheatre, Dorcester today. SLUM VILLAGES. LONDON; September 2. Speaking at Weymouth, Mr. A. Conley, President of the Trades. Union Council, said that many English villages were vile little slums. The country cottage, with roses around the door, looking so charming in the sun, was often an unspeakable habitation.
