All were removed to the hospital, but McGregor and Misses Bradley and Anderson were able to return to their homes. Reynolds is reported to be progressing favourably. COLLISION WITH POLE. OTAKI, September 3. A motor car, driven by Mr Powqll (Christchurch), collided with a telegraph post, last night. The machine was badly damaged, and the driver slightly injured. THROAT CUT. OAMARU, September 3. Robert Goudie, 48, labourer, married, no family, -was found this morning in the bathroom of an annexe at the public hospital, with his throat cut by a razor. i At the inquest, the verdict was suicide while in a depressed state of mind, due’ to illness. FOUND DEAD. INVERCARGILL, September 2. Walter Pearse, aged 72, married, was found dead in his bedroom yesterday. There was a shotgun near the body. SEVERE BURNS. WELLINGTON, September Severe burns to the face, head, neck and arms were sustained by Arthur Hall Butcher, of 175, Cuba Street, while throwing fat on a fire. Hall, who also suffered severely from shock, was attended to by a doctor and taken '< to hospital. .< 1 SAVED FROM DROWNING. j AUCKLAND, September 1. For the first time for several years I a lifeboat was launched in the harbour £ this morning from a ferry. A boy, of six, Richard Newman, fell overboard. A lifebelt was flung to him, but he was floating face downwards, and could not see it. A passenger, named R. A. Lowe, dived in and supported i him till the lifeboat arrived.
