OPERA HOUSE—TO-NIGHT. Marion Davies and Bing Crosby are featured in “Cinderella’s Fella,” a beautiful singing romance to be shown • to-night. A Laurel-Hardy comedy entitled “Any Old Port” will alko be screened. SUNDAY NIGHT. “Attorney For Defence” will be shown Sunday night. Proceeds in aid of Mayor’s Unemployment Fund. At Runanga to-night, “Should Ladies Behave?” will be shown, and two productions on Sunday “Night Mayor” and “Man Against Woman.” “Her Sweetheart” will be shown tonight and “Love Nest”, on Sunday at Waiuta, At Blackball to-night “Hawleys of High Street” will be shown and “Cinderella’s Fella” Sunday night. At Wallsend on Sunday “Should Ladies Behave?” will be screened. HERB MOORE’S CABARET. The Pirate Football Club will hold their Saturday Jazz and Old Time dance in Herb. Moore’s Cabaret tonight, and guarantee lovers of dancing an excellent evening’s entertainment. Steel’s full orchestra will provide the music, and a capable M.C. will have charge of the floor. The prices are moderate. GRAND MILITARY BALL. All roads lead to Schaef’s Hall on Tuesday, September 4, the night of the Grand Military Ball. Grand March 10 p.m. Efficient M.C. Sumptuous supper. Novelty dances, Lucky Spot One Step, Lucky Spot Waltz, Monte Carlo. Happiness Boys’ full Dance Band will supply the music for the programme of Old and Modern dances. EXCURSION TO TIMARU. Definite advice has now been received by the Karoro Sports Club, that their application for an excursion train on Labour Day Sunday to Christchurch and Timaru, has been granted, and to meet several requests from the Hokitika district, the train will start from that terminal, stopping at Kumara, Paroa, Karoro, Greymouth, Brunner, and Stillwater on both outward and return journey. Negotiations are still in progress regarding the timetable, but it is hoped to give patrons about thirteen hours in Christchurch and about eleven in Timaru. As soon as the timetable is finalised details will be advertised. The fares have been arranged to suit all pockets.

BUNGALOW FAIR The Bungalow Fair which will be opened in the Town Hall by the Mayor Mr. J. ‘W. Greenslade, on Friday at 2.30 p.m. will provide many novel and useful attractions. In the living room will be found artistic gifts, the bedroom will be replete with underclothing, guest towels etc., the kitchen will be stocked with cakes and jams etc., the nursery will supply the children’s requirements. In the bathroom will be toilet sets, in the study, books and magazines. A lumbei* room with jumble goods will be worth searching. The conservatory will appeal to all. The tea rooms and sweet shop will be worth patronising. A baby show at 3.30 on Friday afternoon ought to interestmothers —one class for babies under 6 months and two classes, boys and girls, over six months and under twelve months.
