KEPT LOST DOG

OWNER TO PAY CHARGES An interesting point of law concerning dogs was decided by Mr. Registrar Partington at Edmonton (England), recently. James Bilson, of Sheldon-road. Edmonton sued Sidney Allison, of Exe-ter-road, Edmonton, for £2/10/- for maintenance of a dog and 7/6 for a licence. It was stated that Allison lost his dog, which was found by Bilson, who, after informing the police, decided to keep it. He had it for ten weeks, when it ran back to its old home, where it was kept. Bilson now claimed 5/- a week for the ten weeks he had kept the dog and also 7/6 for a licence. Allison submitted that Bilson had voluntarily kept the dog, and therefore had no grounds for making a charge, especially for the licence, as he (Allison) already had one. The Registrar decided, however, in Bilson’s favour, and ordered Allison to pay him 2/6 a week for ten weeks’ maintenance and also 7/6 for the licence.
