GOLFING WIVES.
For a long time the male golfer has been portrayed in humorous papers as an unmitigated bore or as an extremely short tempered individual with a somewhat explosive vocabulary. No doubt th© average man who indulges in the Royal and Ancient Game will be pleased to hear that someone has at last come forward to sing his praises—though his remarks concerning the fair sex are the reverse of complimentary. A titled gossip writer in an entertaining book just published declared that men golfers make charming husbands, whereas, golfing women make atrocious wives. Everyone is, of course, entitled to his opinion and, doubtless, we shall soon hear what some golfing woman thinks of gossip writers! Men who declare that Red Shield | (Dark) and Blue Shield (Medium) are New Zealand Tobaccos at their best have good reason for their opinion, because these Tobaccos are toasted to a turn—that is why they are so much better.
