ROYAL BETROTHAL

MARRIAGE IN LONDON DURING UTE AUTUMN [BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.] , RUGBY, August 29. Exceptional interest has been aroused in the announcement of Prince George’s engagement to Princess Marina. They left Salzburg, to-day, in company with Prince and Princess Paul of Yugo-Slavia, whose guests they will be at a villa on the shore of Lake Bled. Prince George was at the wheel of the car in which he and his fiancee travelled, and their hosts followed in another car. Their Highnesses have been overwhelmed with congratulations on their betrothal, and the King and Queen have also received many messages of congratulation. No official announcement of the date of the wedding has been made, but the Press anticipate that it will take place in London, probably at Westminster Abbey, late in the Autumn, and precedents have been examined regarding the procedure. Formal consent to the marriage will be given by Order-in-Council, following which arrangements for the wedding will be made under the direction of the Duke of Norfolk, as Earl Marshal. , Meanwhile, it is expected that Prince George will return to London in about a week or ten days, and that Princess Marina will pay a short visit to London, as the guest of the King and Queen. COUPLE INTERVIEWED. (Recd. August 30, 1 p.m.) LONDON, August 29. “The cat’s out of the bag, so I suppose I may as well tell you,” said Prince George, when approached by the "Daily Express’s” Salzburg correspondent. "The Princess and I are engaged. It was all very sudden and unexpected. We are both ver/ happy, aren’t we?” he added,, turning to Princess Marina, whose grey brown, eyes twinkled. She said that the Prince proposed near Bohinska Lake. "I think the wedding will be in November. Tell the English people I love England.” 1 The Princess then stepped into a two-seater, lighted a cigarette, Prince 1 George taking the wheel. 1 The Princess is five feet eight inches high, and is so slim that she looks 1 taller..
