LAST COUNTY MATCH RAIN LIMITS PLAY [BY CABLE—•PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] (Received August 30, 10 a.m.) LONDON, August 29. After night-long rain, there was a fine morning, but no play against Kent before 12.50. The Australians omitted Woodfull, Brow r n, Bromley and Wall, the twelfth man being Oldfield. Kent’s team is: Ashdown, Woolley, Todd, Levett, Valentine, Knott, F. G. Clark, J. G. Davies, Chapman, Watt, Freeman. Bradman won the toss and sent in Kent. There was fifty minutes delay, owing to rain, which greatly helped the spin bowlers. Rain fell during the luncheon adjournment, and continued in the afternoon. Play was abandoned for the day. On. a. troublesome wicket, O’Reilly had the fieldsmen clustered round the wicket. Ashdown was smartly caught at short leg in O’Reilly’s second over. Fleetwood Smith beat Woolley .with his first ball. He tempted Woolley to hit the second, and he was w'ell caught at long off. There was an unusual incident when Todd in playing back to O’Reilly dislodged a bail. Barnett appealed to the bowler’s umpire, who replied in the negative. Barnett then pointed out that the bail was removed and appealed to the square legumpire, who said he had not seen the bail fall, and declined to give a decision.—Scores:— KENT —First Innings.
