LANCASHIRE BOYCOTT. [BY CABLE —PRESS ASSN. —COPYRIGHT.] LONDON, August 29. The Bolton District Grocers’ Provision Dealers’ Association, at a special meeting resolved that the Association representing 200 retail grocers, pledge a refusal to stock or distribute Australian produce, till the tariff increases are withdrawn. Bills will be printed and distributed to shopkeepers urging the public not to buy Australian goods. It is intended to placard the whole of the North of England, appealing for support. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Manchester correspondent states: —“The boycott movement is gaining strength daily. Unless there are unexpected developments in a few days, it is expected that the wholesalers will join the retailers in the boycott. AUSTRALIAN CONCESSIONS MELBOURNE, _August 29. Following on the criticism in Lancashire regarding Australia’s cotton duties, the Minister of Customs, Mr. White, announced various items on which the Commonwealth Government had decided to grant concessions with a view to obviating any hardship. He reiterated that the Government, in fix. ing the cotton duties, had been guided by the Tariff Board, its inquiry having gone back for years.
